History
Building Value For
Over Seventy Five Years
In the summer of 1946, Tuckman-Barbee Construction Co., Inc. was founded by Mr. H. Graham Barbee, Jr., Mr. David Tuckman, and Mr. A. E. Lichtman. The firm was instrumental in many of the early Giant Food Stores during their expansion phase. It was during this time that Tuckman-Barbee established a reputation for competitive pricing, quality construction, and professional project management for complex projects.

Tuckman-Barbee understands the importance of aligned relationships with each project. Success hinges on open and clear collaboration between owners, designers, architects, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. We take pride in orchestrating this collaboration, and ensuring productive and responsive partnerships during every phase of the project.
